Ans. It is evident that Sita loved her son Ratan immensely. She worked tirelessly as a housemaid and grew vegetables to fund Ratan’s education. She even sold her silver bangles to open a small shop for him, sacrificing her own wants for her son’s betterment.
Q2. What shows that Ratan became unkind to his mother afier his marriage ?
Ans. After getting married, Ratan’s behavior towards his mother Sita became uncaring and cruel. He neglected her failing health and did not take her to a doctor. Shockingly, he made her sleep on a small cot outside the house while he lived comfortably inside with his wife. This callous treatment highlights how inconsiderate Ratan had become towards his mother.
Q3. What made Ratan and Bela realise that they had been very unfair to their mother ?
Ans. One stormy night, when Ratan returned home, he found his frail mother shivering and coughing on the cot outside in the open. However, he remained indifferent. But upon entering, he saw the leaking roof had drenched their bed, making the baby cry. As Bela tried to cover the child, Ratan remembered his own childhood and how his mother had selflessly cared for him. This struck a chord, and they realized how unfairly they had treated the woman who had sacrificed so much for them.

In the evenings, he patiently helps me with my homework. Despite his busy schedule, he is a loving and caring father who provides for our family’s needs. His dedication and efforts make him the pillar of our household.
Q2. Write a paragraph on the tasks you do to help your mother.
Ans. I always try to lend a helping hand to my mother with the household chores. I arrange my clothes neatly in the almirah and keep my room clean by sweeping it regularly. Whenever my mother feels unwell, I assist her by washing the utensils and running errands to fetch vegetables or groceries from nearby shops. I consider it my duty to support her and never disobey her instructions. Her workload is immense, and I feel happy to share her responsibilities and make her tasks a little easier.
